頻頻旅游多国并在新加坡、印尼椰加達、澳洲墨尔本、雪梨、大溪地、苏里南、圭亚那、千里達巴西圣保罗举行个人画展。
Cheng travelled to Singapore, Jakarta, Melbourne, Sydney, Tahiti, Suriname, Guyana, Trinidad, and Sao Paulo for sight-seeing and solo exhibitions.
在椰加达画展期間印尼名画家古纳万亨特拉见报后到画展会场与郑氏会面，欣赏郑氏所画的竹，现场为郑氏画人像作为交换，一時成为画壇佳话。
In the Jakarta show, national artist Hendra Gunawan admired Cheng’s bamboo painting and requested for it. In return, he would paint Cheng’s portrait, which later became highly sought after in the art circle.
1981
當時在吉隆坡很少画廊，郑氏与数友合創［丹青画廊］
Private galleries were rare in Kuala Lumpur. Cheng and like-minded artists and businessmen wanted to help artists exhibit locally. They co-founded Le Beaux Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur.
1982
參加纽约国际艺术博览会。
Cheng took part in a group exhibition in New York’s International Art Fair.

在砂撈越古晉与另二友人合創［今日室内设计中心］。郑氏在中心楼上设［江風楼］画室。
Cheng and two friends ventured into interior design by establishing a firm called Today Interior Design, in Kuching, Sarawak. He set up an atelier above the firm and continued painting.
1983
与饒仁毅律师在吉隆坡創办［中央艺术学院］出任院长，负责筹备各事，投身艺术教育事业。饒仁毅律师担任董事长。
In Malaysia, tertiary institutes teaching programmes in the arts were few. Cheng and a lawyer friend wanted to grow local arts education. They co-founded the Central Academy of Art in Kuala Lumpur. Cheng served as its principal, leading all of its scholarly activities.

The Central Academy of Art began to recruit students into its Departments of Fine Art, Advertising, Interior Design, Music and Journalism.
1985
在新加坡駐马最高专员署举办个人画展。郑氏率马来西亚艺术访问团访问台灣各艺术院校并在历史博物馆［国家画廊］举办团员作品联展。
Cheng held a solo exhibition at the Singapore High Commission in Malaysia. After that, he led a delegation of Malaysian artists to Taiwan. They visited art colleges there and held a joint exhibition at the island’s National Museum of History.
1986
1987
中央艺术学院联合多个团体举办全国水墨画比赛。邀请新加坡名画家刘抗来院讲学。
The Central Academy of Art collaborated with several art groups to organise a national Chinese ink wash painting competition. In the same year, Cheng invited Singapore’s famous painter Liu Kang to give lectures at the Academy.
在台北举办个人画展，邀請梁實秋教授主持開幕。邀请余光中教授前来讲学。
Cheng was then invited to speak in the Buddhist Culture Lecture Series convened by the Buddhist College of Malaysia in Penang. He spoke on the art of Venerable Chuk Mor.

Cheng mounted solo exhibitions at Penang State Art Gallery and in Reunion, the island-territory of France in Indian Ocean.
吉隆坡马来亚银行总部画廊举办个人画展，該行副主席拿督何文翰主持開幕。該行收藏郑氏［火山爆发图］。
Cheng held a solo exhibition in the headquarters of Maybank in Kuala Lumpur. The bank’s deputy chairman, Dato’ Richard Ho Ung Hun, officially opened his solo exhibition. Maybank later accessioned Cheng’s Eruption of Volcano into its permanent collection of artworks.
